GUNBARREL NORTH
Boulder, CO
The name of Gunbarrel comes from the straight-as-a-gun-barrel stagecoach road between Longmont and Boulder in the 1800’s, and was officially founded in the 1960's along with the prestigious Boulder Country Club, one of the most comprehensive full-service country clubs in Colorado.
Gunbarrel is a census designated area of Boulder County and has approximately 10,000 residents. Unincorporated as a town, it is generally considered part of Boulder, though residents of Gunbarrel may have Boulder, Longmont or Niwot addresses.
Situated just northeast of Boulder proper, Gunbarrel has plenty of noteworthy features. Being the home of big-name companies like Celestial Seasonings, GE, IBM, Covidien, HP, Spectra Logic, GE, Crocs and Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the area teems with success stories and eco-conscious business practices. The classic tale of Celestial Seasonings’ beginnings, just your “average Mo” making a big change in the tea industry, is simply one of the many things that give Gunbarrel its unique edge.
Oh, and did we mention the breweries? Avery, Asher, Beyond the Mountain, Gunbarrel and Bootstrap are just some of the breweries located in Gunbarrel, all within a bike ride of each other.
The area also has a big heart for nature lovers. Not only is Gunbarrel surrounded by open spaces, but planners have also managed to make room for a number of parks within Gunbarrel for locals to stretch their legs and enjoy the outdoors. These include the Twin Lakes Open Space, Coot Lake and Eaton Park.
Gunbarrel also offers easy access to Longmont, the vintage town of Niwot and many Boulder attractions, including Boulder Reservoir, Estes Park and the Flatirons.
